Here shall occur an overview over famous Saxons. Famous Saxons - this means people that was born, that died or lived and worked in Saxony and who had a - more or less - important influence at the history of Saxony.
Any suggestions or contributions are always welcome - but please try to suggest only Saxons. Otto I of course had influence to Saxony, but wasn't as much a Saxon as Julius Caesar was. The same counts for (or better against): Adolf Hitler, King Georg V. of Hannover (King Georg xth of Wettin, the kings of Saxony, will be added as fast as possible ...), Lothar von Sachsen (what means Lower Saxony), all this thurengian (!) dukes and counts of Sachsen-X-Y ...
Alphabetical order: The persons are generally ordered by their name. If they lived in a time where family names had become more important than given names, they are ordered by their families. (eg Johann Sebastian Bach will be found under B for Bach) Formerly living persons are sorted by their given names. Especially in nobility this is common. So if you don't find Wiprecht II. von Groitzsch under G like Groitzsch or v like von have a look at W like Wiprecht!
